Russian freestyle wrestler Ahmed Gadzhimagomedov, who became the winner of the European Championships in Kaspiisk, did not expect that the gold of the tournament will get to him so hard. This athlete told reporters after the finals in the weight category up to 79 kg, in which he defeated the German Martin Obsta with a score of 6: 3.
"I did not expect such a difficult fight, I was tired to the end, it was uncomfortable to struggle, the opponent became slippery. But it was much harder for the semi-final with the Azerbaijanian (Dzhabrail Hasanov, 6: 4 – TASS comment). I was only going to win, but I did not think it would be so difficult", – confessed the fighter.
The sportsman dedicated his victory to all the fans who supported him in the stands of the sports complex in Kaspiisk. "So shouted, so worried for me, my first career in the European Championship gold I dedicate to them", – said Gadzhimagomedov.
The wrestler said that after two silver medals of the Russians Ilyas Bekbulatov and Zaur Uguyev were determined to fight to the last. "At last year’s European Championships, I underestimated my opponent, I won bronze. Today I saw how our guys lost literally in the last seconds, they were determined to fight to the last, it was impossible to fail the team", – said Gadzhimagomedov.
The European Championships will end in Kaspiisk on May 6.
