The unexpected recognition of Grigory Rodchenkov
The former head of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory and WADA informer Grigory Rodchenkov, when giving evidence in the Sports Arbitration Court, admitted that he himself did not give the Russian athletes a doping cocktail "Duchess" and did not see that any of them used it or participated in manipulating their doping tests.
After the publication of this information, Dmitry Peskov, the presidential press secretary, called on international sports organizations to reconsider their attitude towards Russian athletes accused of using dope. And the Minister of Sports Pavel Kolobkov said that the proceedings on the affairs of Russian athletes will continue in the courts.
At the end of 2017, the International Olympic Committee based on Rodchenkov’s testimony for life suspended 43 Russian athletes and canceled their results obtained at the Olympics in Sochi. But on February 1, the Sports Arbitration Court fully or partially satisfied the appeal of 39 athletes.
