CASPIAN, May 3. / TASS /. The pre-Olympic European championship in 2019 on wrestling will take place outside the framework of the second European Games in Minsk. This was reported to journalists by the President of the United World of Struggle (UWW) Serb Nenad Lalovich.
The pre-Olympic European Championship of 2015 was held in the framework of the first European Games in Baku.
"This time the European Championship will be an independent competition from the European Games, we have long discussed this issue. The tournament will be held in Bucharest. A limited number of athletes can participate in the European Games, plus we need all continental championships to be held one year before the Games so that there are no restrictions on the number of countries. However, the competitions in Minsk will be for the wrestlers rating", – said Lalovich.
The second European Games will be held in Minsk from June 14 to June 30, 2019, the European Championships in wrestling – in April-May next year in Bucharest.
