The FSB of Russia prevented a series of terrorist attacks in Moscow, which the Islamic state militants planned to commit. This was reported in the press service of the FSB, reports Interfax.
Employees of the FSB stopped the activities of four participants of the “sleeping cell” IGIL. “Coordination of their activities was carried out from the territory of Syria by means of the messenger” Telegram “,” the service noted.
In Novy Urengoy, the FSB has identified a “collaborative base” of terrorists and their connections from among a radical local population. Within the framework of a joint operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 20 people were detained and 17 searches were carried out.
In October 2017, Telegram was fined in Russia for 800 thousand rubles for refusing to transmit information to the FSB, allowing users to decode messages. As found by the Republic, the FSB demanded from Telegram data for decryption of messages on the phones connected with the alleged organizers of the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro.
