The European Union and the United States conducted a joint operation against the propaganda of a terrorist grouping "Islamic state" (IG). This is stated in a press release of the police service of the European Union (Europol), published on Friday, April 27.
As a result of a two-day event, IG propaganda "a heavy blow is struck", – said the director of Europol Rob Wainwright. It is about media tools, through which a terrorist group disseminated information about its activities.
In particular, the police seized the servers in Canada, the Netherlands and the United States. In addition, important data have been obtained in Bulgaria, Romania and France. The operation will significantly complicate the possibility of radicalization of young people, notes Europol.
Operation of Europol
Operation Europol to counter propaganda IG began in late 2015, when representatives of the police informed the EU members of the growing popularity of the media channels of the group. The first blow to the network infrastructure of the news agency close to the IG was held in August 2016.
The second operation against the terrorist network was conducted in June 2017 under the leadership of the Spanish Civil Guard. The seizure of servers during this action has allowed to identify radicals in more than 100 countries.
