KamAZ and GAZ won auctions for the supply of 200 electric buses for public transport in Moscow. On May 4, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced this on his Twitter.

“Following the results of two auctions, the largest Russian automakers KamAZ and GAZ became winners in the supply of electric buses. Each of them will release for Mosgortrans the world’s 100 most modern electric buses with 15-year service and installation of 62 ultra-fast charges, “Sobyanin said.

The first deliveries are planned in September. Lot for another 100 electric buses “will be announced in December,” Sobyanin added. “And from 2021 we will only buy this environmentally friendly transport instead of diesel buses,” the mayor concluded.

At the end of last year, Mosgortrans announced a tender for the purchase of 300 electric buses and 98 charging stations. The initial price of the contract was about 30 billion rubles. The contest was planned to be held in three auctions – 100 electric buses. In the future, the authorities plan to buy 300 more electric buses annually.

Electric buses will be low-floor, designed for a minimum of 85 passengers. The cabin is equipped with climate control, Wi-Fi, a video surveillance system and USB-connectors for charging mobile devices.

The supplier must service the machines for a 15-year life-cycle contract and bear full financial responsibility for their condition.

In April, the initial price of auctions decreased by an average of 40% – the technical assignment excluded the replacement of airborne power sources after 7.5 years of operation. “We expect that in 7.5 years the batteries will be easier and cheaper. Also, we can not rule out the appearance of new, more efficient types of batteries, “the press service of Mosgortrans explained.
