Already in August this year, upon completion of payments under the third package of financial assistance, Greece will become "normal country" the euro area. This was announced in Athens on Thursday, April 26, by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker after the meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Citrass.
Simultaneously, Juncker demanded from the Greek authorities to carry out the reforms they had planned as soon as possible. In turn, the rest of the euro zone states must fulfill their promises and take measures to reduce Greece’s debts, the European Commission head believes.
Ципрс has declared, that it counts on returning trust of the financial markets. In his opinion, the planned reforms and a package of measures of economy contribute to the achievement of this goal.
Since 2010, Greece has received financial assistance from the structures of the European Union and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The third package of financial assistance in the amount of 86 billion euros was agreed in 2015. About 3.3 billion euros will be spent by Athens on loan servicing. Part of the remaining funds will go to create a reserve stock for the period after the end of payments for the third package in August 2018.
