The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office handed in a notice of suspicion in the state residence of a resident of the Crimea, who collected signatures in support of Vladimir Putin in the March elections of the head of state and was detained. This is reported by the TV channel “112 Ukraine” with reference to the representative of the department on the peninsula Tatiana Tikhonchuk.
“The person who took part in the organization and conduct of the illegal presidential elections in the Crimea, detained yesterday at the” Chongar “CPVV, was informed of the suspicion of committing treason,” she said.
On April 23, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said that the Security Service of Ukraine had detained a woman on the border with Crimea who was “Putin’s confidant” on the peninsula during the election campaign.
According to him, she illegally collected signatures on the peninsula in support of Putin’s nomination at the elections, acted in the interests of Russia and the non-governmental organization Volunteers of Victory.
The Prosecutor General did not name the detainee and did not disclose the details of what happened. According to Novaya Gazeta, the matter concerns the head of the Crimean branch of the movement Elena Odnavol.
Kiev considers the territory of the peninsula occupied, and presidential elections, which are held there, are illegal. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine established in the city of Kherson the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. All this happened after in March 2014 a referendum on the independence of the Crimea from Ukraine was held.
